What the Hell is Happening?

Just like the timing of my blogs, the Chicago Bears continue to be consistent in one key area this season: being inconsistent. I don't fully understand what is going on, but there hasn't been much progression since before the Commanders game. Sure we squeaked out a win against them and then beat the Saints (oh boy! W

ree

e beat Spencer Rattler who no longer starts), but there really hasn't been much improvement.

Writing down my thoughts for the last two games has been tough. Not just given the above thoughts on the state of the Bears, but also because I was at the Saints game for my birthday (thank you mom and dad) and I watched the Ravens game at a bar. I did not grow up playing football and I didn't get "really" into football until college. It helped being at school during the greatest college football dynasty run of all time. All this is to say that when I'm not locked in at home there are a lot of things I miss. Sure I watch re-cap and QB breakdown videos but I'm not in the business of regurgitating other talking heads. In fact, I'm not in any business. I do this for fun and for the 5 people who read it. I'm never going to kid those five people with analysis that I may not even fully understand but just slapped onto this blog. I do though have a few general "thoughts" regarding the last games. I guess its about time I got back on the proverbial horse...

I'm worried that the minute our O-Line gets banged up or has an average game, we see a sacked for a record number of times Caleb Williams from last year. As the games have progressed this season, I (like a lot of fans) have expressed that there has not been a lot of growth from him. I think he's had some decent throws this year and he has the ability to march the ball down the field. He's looked slightly better than last year sure - but I'm starting to wonder if that is due to a functional O-Line. He still looks lost on half plays, overthrows, and tries to play unnecessary hero ball. This would also explain the sudden explosion in the run game.

There was a lot of speculation on whether or not the Bears could win a game without massive defensive plays/takeaways. Well, we got our answer in the Ravens game. Our offense can't quite hack it. This leads me to my thoughts on what happens when the Left Guard is injured? I think we saw a couple previews of this against Baltimore. The minute Caleb is flustered, the minute a guy slips past the line; Caleb Williams has no clue what is happening. He does not make his reads and is either sacked or rolls out for a loss when he should have thrown away the ball.

The panic button can stay under lock and key. Housed inside a boxy plastic cover. The machines on the control panel don't necessarily indicate that anything is wrong - but there is a lingering thought. What if I'm stationed at Chernobyl and it all goes to hell? What if we missed the warning signs? Do we press the panic button? No. But you can't help but glance at it every so often. You try not to, but you can't help yourself. Especially as a Bears fan.

We'll see how much Ben Johnson can sculpt with this mess of clay we have. Sometimes it starts to take shape before one wrong move smashes it back down into the pottery wheel. I think he can make something out of this, and I so desperately want to be patient. Patience is hard though when you have the third first round QB in a row and an offense built around him. Patience is hard when you're a markedly impatient person like me.

Is this just "the Jameis Winston Experience", but less fun?

Doesn't help they're in the toughest division. I'd give Caleb one more year to make the Bears a playoff team. How many years did it take Trevor Lawrence? But yea, the vibes seems low over there lol
