BEARS WIN IN TOTAL DOMINATION AGAINST THE COWBOYS

After witnessing the first Chicago Bears win of 2025, I was asked a simple question. I was asked “Are you hopeful for the Bears?” Taking a beat, my response was “I am hopeful that there is potential for this team.” Was I absolutely thrilled that the Bears won a game? Hell yes I was. Am I moving forward with my walls high to protect myself? Absolutely.
The Bears looked dominant in a late Sunday game against the Dallas Cowboys. It was an all around team effort by the Bears which was a delight to watch. In the Cowboys doc on Netflix I remember Deion Sanders said "Football organizations, they'll never win championships. Only football families win championships. …We were a football family". The Bears had great team chemistry and it started to look like a football family in my opinion. While stars like Tremaine Edmunds showed up with two incredible interceptions against the Cowboys, I got the sense that the whole team was trying their best to win. For a team that is often filled with misplaced hope (e.g. back-to-back offseason champs) and went on to lose their first two games (one being a thrashing) I appreciate that everyone is still buying into the Ben Johnson program.
Speaking of Ben Johnson, oh my God we DO have our guy. I posted an article when we first hired Ben Johnson, and I stand by it – he is THE guy. He takes accountability for what happens on the field, he gets our boys fired up to play football, and he has the most ridiculous trick plays. I honestly don’t think I even really celebrated until minutes after this flea flicker touch down – click here – because I was in shock that we not only ran a play like that, but pulled it off. Look, I know the Cowboys are a bottom of the barrel defense helmed by a terrible former HC, but the fundamentals are there.
My father, who has lived through so many years of bad Bears football texted me that Dallas would win. He mentioned that we could not put together a sustained drive. I mostly felt the same. Although Caleb came out the gate hot, after a couple failed drives, he looked frustrated. He started missing simple throws and I slunk into the cycle of “yeah that tracks”. Safe to say we were both surprised when he overcame this frustration and threw for 298 yards. I cannot believe I am actually typing out that a Bears QB threw for 298 yards! There is so much potential with this team, and everything seemed to click right on Sunday. I know the Cowboys aren't a great team but this was a statement win for the Bears. If we can build off of this momentum and continue to improve, I truly believe we can be a good team. However, I will not be surprised if all of this hope, this “potential” is wasted. I believe all the right pieces are there between Odunze, Moore, Edmunds, the entire O-line… Just a matter of whether or not we can capitalize on it.
