2025 SEASON PREDICTIONS Pt 1 (and probably too much hype)

This has been an EXCRUCIATING football offseason for TheBearClaw (dot blog). My college team has been relegated to a whisper of its former roar - Roll Tide; and the Bears were a rough watch in 2024 yet somehow ended with a walk-off win in the landfill up north. That win and subsequent hire of Ben Johnson as our Head Coach... The Bears can claim yet another offseason championship Lombardi. Another delightful tease of what could have been and what could be.
Look, I have tried very hard to temper my expectations. I cannot keep getting worked up over the Bears every year. Living and eating and drinking in Chicago has aged my arteries up by about 40 years, gotta keep the stress and excitement levels down.
Yeah, I didn't temper anything. I got way too hyped for coach Johnson - I have been eating up his interviews. He is without a doubt a leader of MEN. I love the additions we've made through the draft and other signings. Caleb Williams threw some decent passes in a lethargic preseason game, give my man the MVP already. What can I say, I'm a Bears fan. I will always get way too excited for the upcoming season only to be crushed later on (much to the delight of my Packer goblin friends).
The hiatus from writing has been great by the way, thanks for asking. Refreshed, recharged, and reinvigorated, I am so very pleased to bring you part 1 of my 2025 season predictions for THE Chicago Bears. Bear Down!
Week 1 - MNF vs the Vikings
WIN - We are going to start of HOT HOT HOT with a win against the Minnesota Vikings at home with the first edition of MNF for 2025. JJ McCarthy (remember him?) rookie QB - I see him faltering under the bright lights. Granted, I don't think this is an easy win because Minnesota has an incredible defense helmed by Brian Flores. Big win, big confidence booster for the boys, lets get it.
Week 2 - @ Lions
WIN - I think a lot of people will disagree here and I get it. I'm betting on dysfunction with a different Lions offense and an Aidan Hutchinson who isn't quite back up to speed. I think this is a winnable game.
Week 3 - Vs Cowboys
WIN - Dweeberflus is back in town! Yuck. He's 100% going to get too cute with it. Bears have a decisive win. Dak Prescott sucks, the Cowboys are a clown show, what more can I say?
Week 4 - @ Raiders
Loss - This is where the cracks will start to show for the Bears. The Raiders are a better team with a seasoned HC. This game is going to be a test for how the Bears and more importantly, Ben Johnson handle losses - tough losses
Week 5 - @ Commanders
Loss - Did the Commanders barely squeak out a win against us last year? True. Was that an off game for them? True. Have the Commanders improved since then? True. Bears play their hearts out but it isn't in the cards.
Part 2 to come...
